| An Ethiopian immigrant, who lost the sight in his eye because of an injury 11 years ago while he still lived in Ethiopia, just regained his vision, thanks to Hadassah.
Balta Fanfabil had never sought treatment for his eye injury all these years until he developed a serious infection. Dr. Michael Halpert of Hadasssah’s Ophthalmology Department examined his eye and determined that he needed surgery.
Since Mr. Fanfabil does not speak any Hebrew, Esti Katz, Director of Patient and Family Welfare, arranged for a translator, who sat by his bedside during the procedure and explained what Dr. Halpert was doing. For the first time in 11 years, Mr. Fanfabil can now see out of both eyes!
